What is Corrieshalloch Gorge?
Corrieshalloch Gorge is a dramatic, mile-long gorge in the Scottish Highlands. Formed by glacial meltwater, the gorge plunges down 60m, making it one of the deepest in Scotland – and certainly one of the most spectacular!
The River Droma runs through the gorge, and at its heart is the thundering 45-metre-high Falls of Measach, which plunges down below. There’s a suspension bridge that crosses the gorge, plus a viewing platform, so you can get up close and admire one of the most dramatic natural wonders in Scotland.

How to get to Corrieshalloch Gorge
The best way to reach Corrieshalloch Gorge is by car. There is a bus link between Ullapool and Inverness, but the bus stop is on a busy carriageway, which you may need to cross. You could also join a guided tour of the area that stops off at the gorge.
By car, you can reach the gorge from either Ullapool or Inverness via the A835. From Ullapool, head south on the A835 for 12 miles until you reach the Braemore Junction (around 20 minutes). From Inverness, head north on the A9 until you reach Tore Roundabout, and join the A835 here. This journey is 45 miles and should take around an hour.
Once you reach the Braemore Junction, turn off onto the A832, which is signposted for Corrieshalloch Gorge. The visitor centre and car park is just another minute down this road.

From the visitor centre, head down the first path of the Corrieshalloch circuit until you reach a fork. Here, turn right and you’ll quickly reach the suspension bridge over the gorge. Cross over, and the river will now be on your left.
